No single program or company can increase the technology industry’s diversity and solve the talent shortage. Making a measurable impact will require collaborative solutions. At Dell Technologies, we are partnering with companies that share our commitment to investing in diverse communities — and to giving them the opportunities needed to thrive in our industry. We’re also partnering with nonprofits and nongovernmental organizations that can help us deeply understand community needs and advocate public policy change.
Working together with organizations like Black Enterprise (BE) allows us to make progress towards establishing an inclusive workforce built on diversity. Through our partnership with BE we hosted the BE Smart Student Symposium. The event brought up junior and senior HBCU and other university STEM students, to Dell Technologies to participate in a variety of activities. Participants also had an opportunity to network and learn about internships and full-time opportunities at Dell Technologies.
The mission of the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) is to advance the inclusion of Hispanics in corporate America at a level commensurate with their economic contributions. For more than a decade, Dell Technologies has partnered with HACR to further this mission. Through a variety of HACR leadership and networking programs, this partnership provides us with access to proactive ways to increase the number of Hispanics throughout the corporate pipeline.
At Dell Technologies, we know people with different abilities need more than just accessible spaces and technologies at work; they also need opportunities for career growth and a culture of inclusion. Through our partnership with Disability: IN, we are implementing best practices in hiring people with different abilities, providing etiquette training for teams, and expanding the conversation with peer companies. Internally and externally, we're taking strides to ensure an accessible digital approach.
We are working to increase understanding and to encourage LGBTQ inclusive policies in the localities where we work. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) shares our dedication to a world in which LGBTQ people are ensured of their basic equal rights and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community. In 2020, we celebrated our 16th consecutive year receiving a 100% on the HRC's 2020 Corporate Equality Index, which recognizes the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ equality.
DWEN was established in 2009 to empower women entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. Since 2010, we’ve invested in annual research to better understand the obstacles standing in women’s way of not just starting a business but growing it. DWEN helps a group of like-minded women share best practices, build business opportunities through collaboration, explore international expansion, and access new resources and technologies that support business growth.
