    HOPKINTON, Mass - December 05, 2013 -

EMC Corporation announced today that it has received a “Lifetime Achievement in Benefits Innovation” award from the New England Employee Benefits Council (NEEBC). The award was presented at NEEBC’s 15th annual “Best Practices” Conference and recognizes the consistently innovative and creative delivery of employee benefit programs by EMC®.

The inaugural achievement was awarded to EMC based on a decade long benefits strategy to engage employees through access to information, simple tools and personalized communications. In collaboration with several healthcare partners, EMC uses data analytics to create a high tech and high touch approach that engages employees and their families by providing ways to manage their health with meaningful data and insight. Some of these programs include:

    • Personal Health Records (PHRs)—EMC was the first to introduce employer-sponsored, automatically populated PHRs in a confidential and secure environment, providing employees a central repository of personal health information at their fingertips, anytime and anywhere.
    • Health Literacy and Education—Online tools and regularly offered programs and seminars at EMC’s office locations educate employees and dependants on common health conditions, the cost of healthcare, and how to navigate the healthcare system to achieve lasting benefits.
    • “Choose One and Commit” Program—Through an easy to navigate annual goal setting program, EMC employees are able to address key health concerns – whether it be receiving a flu shot, or pledging to exercise more.

Since EMC’s benefits strategy’s inception, the company has measured more than $300 million in cost avoidance, allowing for low employee premiums, reinvestment into new programs and setting a new standard for how Human Resources delivers value to employees and customers.
