    Bedford, MA - January 25, 2013 -

RSA, the Security Division of EMC Corporation® (NYSE: EMC), announced today it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the “Leaders” quadrant of the “Magic Quadrant for Content-Aware Data Loss Prevention” . This marks the fifth consecutive time that RSA has been placed in the DLP “Leaders” quadrant.

Gartner characterizes content-aware data loss prevention technologies as “those that can, as a core function, perform content inspection of data at rest or in motion, and can execute responses – ranging from simple notification to active blocking – based on policy settings.”  The firm notes that in addition to sophisticated detection techniques, “one of the leading characteristics of enterprise content-aware DLP solutions involves a centralized management console, support for advanced policy definition and event management workflow,” thus differentiating these solutions from DLP-lite or Channel DLP offerings.

RSA® Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is designed to discover and monitor the location and flow of sensitive information, such as regulated data or corporate intellectual property, across the infrastructure including cloud, virtual and mobile devices.  It is engineered to alert and educate end users in real-time and enforce controls, such as encryption, quarantine, and block and notify, to prevent the loss of sensitive data through email, web, PCs, smartphones, iPads, virtual desktops, cloud-based applications and more.  As built, data is identified and classified with industry-best accuracy through RSA DLP’s combination of cognitive sciences-based content classification, machine-based fingerprinting, rich metadata analysis and purpose-built expert policies.

Thousands of organizations worldwide use RSA DLP to protect millions of emails and Petabytes of sensitive data every day. With 170+ expert-built policies available out-of-the-box and unique incident management workflow processes, RSA DLP helps organizations both protect sensitive data, including PII and intellectual property, and comply with various data protection regulations, such as PCI DSS and HIPAA.

The latest version of the RSA DLP offers significant enhancements designed around manageability and integrations with broader security solutions. The new purpose-built incident management user interface is built to include a powerful faceted search functionality and new visualization for Endpoint management to significantly improve operational efficiencies.  In addition, RSA DLP 9.5 has been engineered to integrate with the RSA Archer ® GRC and RSA NetWitness® security monitoring platforms to provide necessary content awareness that allows both GRC and security teams to take an information risk-based approach to security and GRC management.
