LONDON, U.K. - June 20, 2012 -
EMC today announced that it has been named the 19th Best Multinational Workplace in Europe by Great Place to Work, the experts in workplace excellence. EMC was awarded the position at the official unveiling of Great Place to Work's 'Best Workplaces in Europe 2012', held last night in Berlin. EMC was the 4th highest ranking large company from the technology sector to make the list.
The annual benchmarking study celebrates businesses operating in Europe that have demonstrated exceptional levels of respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie within their organisations. Businesses are judged on the basis of Great Place to Work's confidential Trust Index survey of employees as well as audits of HR and management processes across their European operations. This included an analysis of how EMC's work practices compare to other multinational companies in areas including inspiring, speaking, listening, thanking, developing, celebrating, caring, sharing and hiring.
EMC's award is based on excellent results in geographies across Europe. In Ireland, it was ranked the 4th Best Workplace, and also picked up the Best Leader award for Bob Savage, VP of EMC Ireland. Similarly high placements were achieved in other major European countries, including:
Across the region, EMC's strongest performing areas included justice (lack of discrimination and process for appeals), pride (both in work produced as teams and as individuals) and support for professional development and showing appreciation of employees. Overall, the vast majority of EMC's employees stated that they thought the company is a great place to work.
Bob Lee, EMEA Communications Director, Great Place to Work
"In common with all organisations that are included among the Best Workplaces in Europe, we would like to congratulate EMC on being placed so highly. Our approach to this listing is exceedingly rigorous and is therefore an accurate barometer of working cultures throughout the region. EMC's placement demonstrates that the company has developed an exceptional corporate environment that allows employees to prosper in their working lives."
Detlef Krauss, Vice President, Human Resources EMEA and Latin America, EMC
"Being named the 19th Best Multinational Workplace in Europe is an incredible achievement for the whole team, and is due to the huge levels of hard-work and dedication our employees bring to their jobs each and every day. From our Employee Satisfaction Survey we know that our employees are very engaged and committed to EMC. It is great to see that now we also get the external recognition for being an employer of choice. Especially for a first-time participation in some countries we achieved phenomenal results and I am very excited about this success. We most certainly want to achieve more going forward but we are off for a great start!"
