    LONDON - April 28, 2010 -

Mozy™, the industry-leading online backup service from EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC), today announced the launch of Mozy in the UK and Ireland through www.mozy.co.uk and www.mozy.ie. The service has two distinct online cloud backup offerings for consumers and small businesses – MozyHome® and MozyPro®. Mozy has won more awards and industry accolades than any other online backup service, protects more than 50,000 businesses and serves more than a million total users.

MozyHome offers online backup for personal home users covering all file types, from family photos to financial documents, with the same military-grade encryption used by online banks during data transfer for £4.99 per month for a single computer. Any consumer may download and try MozyHome, with 2GB of free backup, by visiting http://www.mozy.co.uk.

MozyPro offers automated and easily managed multi-user online backup for small offices, homes offices and small businesses through a pay-as-you-go model with no set-up costs. Complete security assurance is provided for £3.99 per computer per month + 50p per GB. Server licences cost £6.99 per month + 50p per GB.
"So many things in our lives are now digital. The cost of a home computer can be recovered by household insurance, but the memories and data are lost forever unless backed-up to a different location from the home computer in case of fire, flood or natural disaster. Likewise sole traders and small businesses can face ruin if they lose their only copy of important data," said Harel Kodesh, President of Mozy. "Mozy protects individuals and businesses by providing an automatic online backup service which keeps a fully up-to-date copy of everything of value on a computer, from photos to business contacts.”

The main benefits of MozyHome are:

    • Incredibly easy-to-use
    • Fully automated, ensuring backed up data is always up to date
    • Precious family photos, expensively assembled film and music collections always protected
    • Military-grade encryption keeps data private

The main benefits of MozyPro are:

    • Data assurance and compliance from military-grade encryption and European data centres
    • Centrally managed for ease-of-use and requires no actions from end-users
    • Flexible enough to ensure only specified business data is backed up (to keep costs low)
    • Affordable and scalable backup solution, with new employees easily added

“Online back-up is a simple and easy way to ensure that computer data is never lost or destroyed and is especially important for those with no formal IT department to ensure this is the case such as consumers, home workers and those in many small businesses” said Bob Tarzey, service director with Quocirca Ltd. “With Mozy, they have the confidence of knowing this is a service that is secured and backed by a company the size of EMC. It works well, I use it myself!”

The service provides safe and secure online backup by encrypting all data on customers’ computers using a customer’s own 256-bit personal AES encryption key or Mozy’s 448-bit Blowfish encryption key before it’s sent to a Mozy data centre. The data is then sent to Mozy’s data centres via a secure 128-bit SSL connection, the same encryption used in online banking.

“Before using Mozy, I sporadically backed up files to a disk, but it became particularly upsetting after my hard drive crashed,” said Ian Chapman, current Mozy customer in the UK. “The crash cost me correspondence I had with my late father. My computer continues to crash on occasion, but Mozy makes recovering data much easier.”

“When I bought a new computer, I took out the hard drive to transfer my data to my new machine. One drive held all my operating system data, the other all my documents, photos and music. I decided to destroy that drive so it would be unusable after I threw it away; but unfortunately, I destroyed the wrong drive and lost all my data,” said Jonathan Nachmann, another Mozy customer. “Mozy provides me with peace of mind, knowing my data is always backed-up, no matter what happens to my computer or hard drives.”

To ensure Mozy meets European Union regulations, which require businesses to keep their information backed up within the borders of the European Union, Mozy opened its first data centre in Europe in 2008. Mozy partners include China Telecom, McAfee, Vodafone and Clearlybusiness, a wholly owned subsidiary of Barclays Bank, who trust Mozy to power their online backup offerings.
