    HOPKINTON, Mass. - April 08, 2010 -

EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced it has joined the EDGE® Innovation Network, a collaborative, open-environment initiative enabling industry and academia, with government input, to work together to deliver new technologies and innovative capabilities to warfighters and first responders faster.

“EMC is pleased to be part of the EDGE Innovation Network to leverage and contribute our technology expertise to its collaborative environment of industry, academia and government experts.  Through the collaborative environment that EDGE effectively fosters, we will further enhance the design and delivery of innovative information infrastructure technology and solutions that help our U.S. government customers solve their most challenging information needs today and in the future,” said Bill Scannell, EMC’s Executive Vice President of the Americas.

Sponsored by General Dynamics C4 Systems, the EDGE Innovation Network bridges the gaps that occur between research and development work done in EDGE-member laboratories and the production of military and government systems. EDGE members fill these gaps by rapidly developing prototypes of new capabilities or improved subsystem components for customer evaluation and ultimately, insertion into military or government programs of record.

The EDGE has delivered several innovations including a Soldier Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) receiver, or SIR, to the U.S. Army. About the size of a Blackberry®, the SIR device delivers real-time streaming video from manned or unmanned assets into the hands of soldiers on the ground.  There are currently more than 10 projects in development intended to improve and enhance capabilities.

Pete Palmer, EDGE Innovation Network director said, “By aligning technologies and innovations from EDGE members with requests and feedback from warfighters and first responders, we can deliver new and relevant capabilities to users faster than typical acquisition cycles currently allow.”

There are currently five EDGE Innovation Centers worldwide and over 100 EDGE members. More information can be found online at www.EDGE-innovation.com.
