    HOPKINTON, Mass. - March 15, 2010 -

EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced that 20-year IT industry veteran Jeremy Burton has joined the company as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.  Burton will be responsible for the global structure, strategy, and execution of all aspects of EMC’s marketing efforts.

Burton will report to Joe Tucci, EMC’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.  In making the announcement, Tucci said, “EMC has the people, vision, technologies, and partnerships to lead what we believe will be the most significant wave of change and opportunity the IT industry has ever seen – cloud computing.  Jeremy’s deep software industry experience and marketing leadership credentials provide a strong complement to our executive leadership team.  We look forward to the contribution he can make in helping us extend EMC’s presence and relevance on the world stage, in building and guiding our global reputation and brand, and in further enabling the success of our sales teams and partner ecosystem.”

Burton, 42, joins EMC from Serena Software, where he was President and CEO.  Previously, as Group President of Symantec’s Security and Data Management Business Unit, Burton was responsible for the company’s $2 billion Enterprise Security product line.  Prior to that role, he served as Executive Vice President of the Data Management Group at VERITAS, responsible for the company’s backup and archiving products, and also served as VERITAS’ Chief Marketing Officer.  Earlier in his career, Burton spent nearly a decade at Oracle, culminating in his role as Senior Vice President of Product and Services Marketing.

“EMC has been both an excellent partner and a formidable competitor throughout my career,” said Burton. “EMC’s strategy – to lead customers through their journey to the private cloud – combined with their seasoned and highly regarded management team were key factors in my decision.   It’s an exciting time to join EMC.”
