RSA and Trend Micro Team Up To Increase the Ability to Stop Online Attacks

EM' Security Division Leverages Real-Time Threat Data Generated by the Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™ to Further Enhance Capabilities of the RSA® FraudAction Service to Stop Online Attacks

    LONDON - October 20, 2009 -

RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC) has joined forces with Trend Micro to leverage its real-time threat intelligence to build upon RSA’s advanced capabilities that help protect organizations worldwide against current and emerging online threats that can lead to identity theft.

The RSA® FraudAction service, operated by the 24x7 RSA® Anti-Fraud Command Center, is now tightly connected with the Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™ infrastructure in order to receive real-time information generated via Trend Micro’s deep global threat intelligence. The Trend Micro Smart Protection Network is a next-generation cloud-client content security infrastructure designed to protect customers from online threats.

As a result of the relationship, the RSA FraudAction service has increased fraud intelligence on suspicious crimeware – including viruses, spyware, spam and other malware. These capabilities will help the RSA FraudAction service to further qualify, analyze, monitor, block, and shut-down online attacks to more effectively defend its customers against online crime.

“This inventive collaboration between two leaders in online security is another step ahead in the fight against the global cyber-threat which continues to escalate as online fraudsters become more organized and effective than ever,” said Tom Corn, vice president of Product Marketing at RSA. “The ability to combat cybercriminals requires a far more purposeful collaboration within the industry – such as that between RSA and Trend Micro – and a strong security ecosystem focused on mitigating risk.”

“The power of the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network paired with the RSA FraudAction service means customers can enjoy more online freedom, knowing their personal information is secure,” said John Maddison, senior vice president, Trend Micro. “Trend Micro is committed to collaborating with RSA to ensure that customers’ personal data and online identities are safe.”
