EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, announced today that it has been named by the Triangle Business Journal as one of the best companies to work for in North Carolina’s Research Triangle area, marking the fifth consecutive year that EMC has received this honor. The Triangle Business Journal also named EMC the #1 Best Place to Work in the “Large Company” category. EMC is being honored for its collaborative and positive work environment and its effective management and inventive policies that attract and retain motivated, high-performing employees.

“We are thrilled to be named to this prestigious list for the fifth consecutive year,” said Bob Hawkins, Vice President of North Carolina Operations at EMC.  “We take great pride in having a company culture that cultivates innovation, teamwork and success and we believe in providing a workplace where employees feel valued and where they excel.  This award is a testament to the dynamic employees that help make EMC one of the premier IT companies in the world.”

“These awards are a testimony to the good work done by businesses in the Triangle that recognize that their people are a company’s most valuable assets,” says Triangle Business Journal Publisher Char Grunwaldt.

This year marks EMC’s 30-year anniversary.  Founded in Massachusetts on August 23, 1979, EMC’s history has been marked by sustained innovation, leadership and profitable growth.  Today, EMC employs more than 41,000 people worldwide and remains one of the world’s most successful companies, serving customers in more than 100 countries.  EMC’s presence in North Carolina stretches back to 1977 as part of Data General Corporation, a major supplier of storage and enterprise computing solutions.  Data General joined EMC operations in 1999 when EMC acquired the company.  EMC currently operates five sites in North Carolina: a research and development facility in RTP, a manufacturing plant in APEX, and sales and services offices in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh.  EMC’s North Carolina facilities play a vital role in allowing the organization to deliver information infrastructure technology and solutions to customers worldwide and further its reputation as a leader in information management and infrastructure.
