    HOPKINTON, Mass - October 31, 2008 -

    EMCCorporation (NYSE: EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, announced today that it has purchased 500,000 additional shares of VMware Class A common stock, bringing EMC’s ownership of VMware's total outstanding common stock to approximately 84%. The 500,000 shares were purchased from Intel Corporation.

    This equity purchase underscores VMware's role in EMC's strategic direction and acknowledges VMware's leading market position with one of the industry’s most compelling value propositions.
