EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced that Westinghouse Electric Company chose EMC’s best-of-breed hardware, software and services to accelerate the business value of its Microsoft Exchange Global Messaging platform. EMC will enable Westinghouse, a pioneering nuclear power company and supplier to power companies worldwide, to consolidate its disparate, distributed email applications into an integrated, scalable and highly available Microsoft Exchange 2007 messaging platform.
“We were using two end-of-life email applications and needed an information infrastructure to support our communications needs as we upgraded our messaging platform,” said Tom Moser, Manager of IT Services at Westinghouse. “Our EMC infrastructure will enable a faster migration, provide an integrated view of our Exchange environment and support an application-specific archiving and recovery management strategy.”
To maximize Westinghouse’s investment in Microsoft and EMC technologies, EMC Global Services Microsoft technology and solution experts helped the company plan and build an information infrastructure to speed implementation and minimize risk of its Global Messaging Platform when migrating to Microsoft Exchange 2007. This infrastructure consists of two EMC CLARiiON® storage systems that use EMC Replication Manager and EMC SnapView™ software to increase application availability to simplify backup, information sharing, repurposing and data recovery. Westinghouse is also using EMC Centera™ content addressed storage to support its active email archiving strategy.
