CardTechSecurTech 2007, San Francisco, CA - May 15, 2007 -
RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC), today announced that it will support Lockheed Martin on the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)'s Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program. To further secure the nation's transportation system, the TWIC program involves the rapid, nationwide deployment of biometric identification credentials to maritime workers.
The TWIC credential will enhance port security by requiring all workers with unescorted access to secure areas of vessels and maritime facilities to complete a security threat assessment successfully and carry a biometric credential.
"We're pleased that Lockheed Martin, an organization with proven and efficient capabilities was selected by TSA, and we look forward to growing our successful relationship," said Art Coviello, president at RSA, The Security Division of EMC. "We're proud that RSA technology serves such an integral task in securing our transportation infrastructure, and as other federal agencies address the challenges associated with standardizing credential badging, RSA hopes to work with these other agencies to deliver an end-to-end and interoperable solution that will provide an effective option for their short- and long-term needs."
