EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management and storage, announced today that American Express has signed a multi-year services agreement with EMC to manage American Express' distributed storage environment, which is comprised of its core business-critical applications and thousands of servers. With comprehensive onsite managed services, EMC will provide American Express with high performance, flexibility and efficiency throughout its distributed storage environment.

"Our distributed environment has thousands of servers and supports a cross section of all our applications – from utility services such as email to our core business applications," said Matthew Robinson, senior vice president, Technology Infrastructure at American Express. "We sought flexibility for the way we manage our infrastructure and to tier our data storage according to performance, availability and price requirements. We have a longstanding relationship with EMC and are confident they can efficiently and effectively manage our storage environment."

"American Express has always been an industry leader when it comes to IT innovation and maximizing business performance," said Derrell James, senior vice president, EMC Technology Solutions.
