Hopkinton, Mass. - April 03, 2006 -
EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management and storage, today announced that Steve Leonard has joined the company as President of its Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) operations. With more than two decades of experience in international business, information management software, and global sales and service, Leonard will be responsible for driving EMC’s growth and leadership in APJ, enhancing partner and channel relationships, and furthering product development throughout the region.
“The APJ market offers significant growth opportunities for EMC,” said David Goulden, EMC’s Executive Vice President, Customer Operations. “With the help of EMC’s partners, we generated more than $1 billion from Asia Pacific operations in 2005, and we now employ nearly 3,000 information management and storage professionals in the region to help customers design, implement and realize the benefits of an information lifecycle management strategy. We are extremely fortunate to welcome an executive with Steve’s background and experience. He really understands this region and can help us to further exceed our customers’ expectations as we continue to invest and broaden our market reach throughout the region.”
Reporting to Goulden, Leonard, 44, brings more than 20 years of industry and international experience to EMC. He will lead EMC’s APJ-based sales and service organizations in more than 12 countries and will represent EMC in the marketplace with responsibility for the region’s total revenue and its approach to customers, prospects and partners. For the last several years, Leonard managed the Asia Pacific Japan operations for Symantec and Veritas. Prior to that executive management position, Leonard spent 18 years with EDS, where he rose to the position of President of Solutions Consulting for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Leonard succeeds EMC’s Steven Fitz, who will be returning to EMC’s U.S. operations to take another senior management position after leading EMC through four consecutive years of growth and expansion in the APJ region.
