EMC Honors Customers for Innovations in Enterprise Content Management
Presents Four Customers with Momentum Europe Customer Award
Barcelona, - May 25, 2005 -
EMC Corporation, the world leader in information storage and management, today announced that it has presented AstraZeneca, BNP Paribas, Elsevier and Lufthansa with the Momentum Europe Customer Awards. The awards honor EMC customers that have deployed the most innovative software applications based on EMC's enterprise content management (ECM) technologies.
The winners include:
- Northern European Customer of the Year: AstraZeneca is one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies with over 64,000 employees worldwide. To inform and assist employees, partners, and customers globally, the company has over 1,000 internal and external web sites in multiple languages. External sites include country-specific, educational, and product-specific sites with internal sites focused on information sharing. As a result of working with EMC, AstraZeneca developed and launched their internal Enterprise Portal solution where users have faster access to important relevant information, improved employee satisfaction and effectiveness, as well as maintained operational costs.
- Southern European Customer of the Year: BNP Paribas, a leading provider of financial and banking solutions and services, successfully deployed the Documentum ECM platform for several large strategic eBusiness initiatives. In particular, the global customer portal bnpparibas.net, which has more than 33 million visitors per month and the enterprise employee portal with more than 800,000 visitors per month are powered by the Documentum Web Content Management (WCM) solution. The corporate strategy of using a Documentum infrastructure has given the ability to publish trusted content on-line quickly and accurately, reducing the overall process to publish on-line content from 15 days to 15 minutes.
- Central European Customer of the Year: Lufthansa Technik AG, the world's largest provider of technical support services for commercial aircrafts, conducts business with over 1,000 manufacturers that deliver products and components for its aircrafts. Each component has its own maintenance manual for each product it ships, from electronic navigation computers to tires. Using the Documentum ECM platform as the central repository to manage and deliver this content, Lufthansa has built powerful workflows that allow system engineers to contribute, edit and approve the content via a variety of devices, including terminals and PDAs. As a result, Lufthansa Technik improved customer service, increased customer satisfaction and reached a projected ROI of approximately 12 percent over 5 years.
- Outstanding Success Story: Elsevier, a leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information products and services was faced with the initial challenge of creating, editing and publishing localized web content, images and multimedia. Successful consolidation to a single Documentum ECM platform solution, for their web content requirements, allowed content to be accessible and re-usable rather than hidden away in legacy systems. As a result, Elsevier was able to expand the application to an enterprise solution for maximum reuse of content, workflows and best practices, and improve collaboration and communication within work groups.
"The number of successful deployments of our customers' applications on the Documentum enterprise content management platform is astounding and demonstrates the flexibility and functionality that it offers customers," said Dave DeWalt, President, EMC Software. "We are pleased to honor our top customers who have made the most out of what our ECM technology has to offer."
