    EMC Names Prashant Dholakia Vice President of Information Protection Software

    Industry Veteran to Play Key Role in Driving EMC's World-Leading Information Protection Software Strategy

    Hopkinton, - July 14, 2004 -

    EMC Corporation, the world leader in information storage and management, today announced that Prashant Dholakia has joined the company as Vice President of Information Protection Software for the newly formed EMC Software Group. A 20-year IT industry veteran and former Senior Vice President of Availability Products for Veritas Software Corporation, Dholakia reports to Mark Sorenson, EMC's Senior Vice President of Information Management Software.

    The ability to ensure that information is always protected and readily available has become a strategic imperative for virtually every business. In this position, Dholakia will help EMC continue to build its leadership position in addressing this imperative. He will guide EMC's long-term information protection product strategy while leading the development of the EMC LEGATO NetWorker, AlphaStor, and EDM software product lines. Through these and other initiatives, Dholakia will play a key role in extending EMC's lead in helping customers implement their information lifecycle management strategies.

    In addition to senior management roles during his four years at Veritas, Dholakia was most recently Senior Vice President at FreeMarkets, Inc. Prior to that, he was co-founder and CEO of Mendocino Software and has held technical and senior management positions at Intel Corporation, Softech Inc., and others. He holds an MS in Computer Science from Illinois Institute of Technology, a BS in Electrical Engineering from VJTI in Bombay, India, and will be based in Palo Alto, California.
