Costa Mesa, CA and Hopkinton, - October 16, 2003 -
FileNet Corporation (NASDAQ:FILE) and EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) today announced an extension of their alliance and product integration offerings aimed at satisfying a wide range of regulated records retention needs.
FileNet and EMC will extend and expand support of EMC's Centera content addressed storage (CAS) solution across the entire FileNet P8 product line. This pairing of FileNet's leading ECM capabilities with EMC's industry-leading storage offerings will result in a wide selection of offerings to meet an equally wide range of regulatory compliance needs - requiring varying degrees of sophistication in content and business process management.
Expanded support now includes FileNet's popular Image Services 4.0 CSAR, a simple, customer-installable upgrade to FileNet Image Services that provides proven power, scalability and performance for rapid access to enterprise-level volumes of fixed objects such as documents, faxes, email and rich media for thousands of users. It securely and permanently stores critical business information in a robust and highly available environment to safeguard critical content from disaster and misuse.
FileNet is also announcing native integration between Centera and the FileNet Image Manager Suite, which provides exceptional power, scalability and performance, enabling companies to store and manage document images and other unstructured content. This solution offers customers sophisticated imaging and content management capabilities to meet the most challenging needs of highly regulated enterprises.
Together, EMC Centera and FileNet ECM form a complete solution that enables IT administrators to manage electronic records and communications and comply with records retention requirements for compliance. With EMC Centera and FileNet technology, companies can establish processes for compliance, aggregate content from across the enterprise and from disparate business applications to produce required documentation quickly, and execute strategies for the retention or disposal of information in accordance with regulations and legal requirements.
Lee Roberts, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, FileNet, said, "Our partnership with EMC is yet another way FileNet is working to address the regulatory compliance needs of companies operating in today's increasingly demanding and complex regulatory environment."
Howard Elias, EMC's Executive Vice President of New Ventures, which includes EMC's Centera operations, said, "FileNet's Image Manager with EMC's Centera solution delivers compliance capabilities for electronically stored records and allows companies to satisfy the most stringent regulatory requirements cost-effectively and accurately. As we move to provide more complete solution offerings to our customers, we remain as committed as ever to open integration with the Centera CAS platform across applications. FileNet's plans to integrate with Centera across its entire product line will enable FileNet and EMC to jointly address additional market opportunities meeting a wide range of TCO necessities."
Rich Medina, an analyst with Doculabs, a Chicago-based technology consulting firm, said, "When it comes to regulatory compliance solutions, one size does not fit all. As the regulated records retention market continues to grow, we anticipate increasing demand for a wide range of solutions to fit companies' unique business requirements. FileNet's strategy to offer flexibility and choice of solutions based on its ECM platform should serve the market well, as will its decision to partner with industry leaders such as EMC."
