EMC Names John Koury Vice President of Channel Marketing

Former Senior Compaq Marketing Executive to Strategically Position EMC for Additional Growth through Partners

    Hopkinton, - September 17, 2003 -

As part of EMC Corporation's continuing expansion of its indirect sales strategy, the company today announced the appointment of John Koury as Vice President of Channel Marketing. A 20-year IT industry veteran, Koury was previously Vice President of Worldwide Marketing for Compaq Computer's Enterprise Storage Group.

In this newly created position, Koury will work closely with EMC's sales, services, software and platforms organizations to strategically position EMC for additional growth through current and future channel partners including distributors, resellers, integrators, service providers and computer system vendors. EMC systems, software and services are currently offered by more than three hundred partners worldwide and the company has made significant investments over the past year to complement its direct sales and service efforts with a world-class channel partner program to address previously untapped and underserved market opportunities. Koury reports to David Goulden, EMC's Executive Vice President of Marketing and New Business Development.

"EMC's new focus on information lifecycle management, our pending acquisition of LEGATO, and the industry's most comprehensive set of networked storage systems, software and services will continue to enhance the unprecedented opportunities for our partners," said Goulden. "John's broad experience will enable him to lead, coordinate, support and augment EMC's channel marketing efforts and strategically position the company for future growth by working more closely with our channel partners."

In June, EMC unveiled its multi-tiered Velocity Channel Partner program which combines certification, training, sales, marketing and technical support with financial incentives to make it easier for resellers and integrators to offer EMC Automated Networked Storage solutions to end user customers. As part of its ongoing multi-million dollar investment in its channel strategy, EMC in June also introduced its new Channel Express online configuration, price, quote and order system. This new tool, developed in conjunction with partners, helps ensure that end user customers are getting the right solution for their needs, in the most efficient manner and at the most competitive price.

In addition to his senior management role at Compaq, Koury has also held management positions at Intelligent Electronics and the former Digital Equipment Corp. Koury is a graduate of Kent State University and will be based at EMC's headquarters in Hopkinton, Mass.
