EMC Acquires French Professional Services Firm

Addition of Groupe MCI to Enhance EMC Presence in France

    Hopkinton, - April 28, 1998 -

EMC Corporation, the world’s leading provider of enterprise storage systems and software, today announced the acquisition of Groupe MCI, a French information technology professional services firm. This acquisition is part of EMC’s strategy to offer professional services that help customers better manage, protect and share their information through EMC Enterprise Storage, and will enhance EMC’s presence in the large French market.

Paris-based Groupe MCI, one of France’s leading professional services firms, had 1997 revenues of approximately $30 million with nearly 400 employees as of the end of the year. With almost 500 employees today, it provides technical assistance and consultation to some of the largest corporations in France, many of whom are also EMC customers. Groupe MCI’s management and general services will remain unchanged and it will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of EMC.

Paul E. Noble, Jr., EMC’s Senior Vice President of New Business Development, said, “The addition of Groupe MCI strengthens EMC’s overall presence in France and gives both Groupe MCI and EMC customers the resources of two leading organizations to help them meet their business challenges. This is the latest step in EMC’s strategy of expanding its professional services capabilities by hiring and acquiring the best available resources in each major geographic region.” EMC announced the formation of its professional services business in February.

Michel Teman, CEO of Groupe MCI, said, “This acquisition will enable Groupe MCI and EMC to further capitalize on the growing demand for enterprise storage and information management professional services in France. Groupe MCI will continue to develop the high levels of service our customers have come to expect. At the same time, this agreement will allow us to take full advantage of the synergy we have with EMC in order to broaden our range of offerings and accelerate Groupe MCI’s progression among France’s leading professional services companies.”

EMC France is one of EMC’s largest international subsidiaries, with over 200 employees. Customers include some of France’s largest financial services firms, telecommunications companies and airlines. EMC Enterprise Storage is also marketed in France by EMC resellers, including France-based Groupe Bull, which offer EMC’s Symmetrix Enterprise Storage as their high-end storage solutions.
